salary 2016: It varies by industry the analyst is in so I cant get a concrete median but it is generally anywhere from $50,000 to $110,000 if you include the variation on experience and things like being a senior analyst rather than just starting out.

A data analysts job will vary depending on the company they are working for, but generally they will analyze data and interpret results, acquire the data and develop and implement data analysis, data collection systems and other similar things. They may also have to maintain the databases that are storing the data. They may also monitor performance and quality control plans so they can suggest improvements to them. Some other things that are required for being a data analyst are things like statistics, knowledge and/or experience in how to use programs like excel and being good at analyzing things (obviously). Some other things that would be good to have are being good at reporting and/or presenting what you find and expertise with data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
